The Longoria-Beltre debate has pretty much run its course. So, to move things to the future, here are the top ten 3bmen of the future:

1. Kris Bryant, CHC--The best prospect in baseball has the ability to hit .300 with 30-40 hrs yearly.
2. Joey Gallo, TEX--The best power in baseball after Stanton, he's learning to hit now, too.
3. Miguel Sano, MIN--Also has light tower power, but needs to work on strikeouts and hit tool.
4. Yasmany Tomas, ARI--Powerful hitter will start at Rf, but he can and could play the corner.
5. D.J. Peterson-SEA--Excellent hitting prospect needs to work on defense to stay at corner.
6. Maikel Franco, PHI--Excellent power, but his defense may move him over to 1b, as well.
7. Matt Chapman, OAK--Toolsy talent has star potential even if stats haven't shown it yet.
8. Colin Moran, HOU--Dave Magadan clone has excellent tool but little power for his size.
9. Rafael Devers, BOS--Excellent hitting prospect has talent to be fourth on the list.
10. Renato Nunez, OAK--Excellent defender with solid hit tool and power potential.

The best western is the original," Lonesome Dove" with Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Duvall, and Danny Glover.

Lonesome Dove
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
The Long Riders
A Mule For Sister Sarah
Silverado
Dances With Wolves
Lone Star
Pale Rider
Little Big Man
Cowboys & Aliens

Thanks for that excellent list, Radagast. I was a big fan of Lonesome Dove when it came out, and it did for television Westerns what Band of Brothers did for television War movies. I am also a big fan of The Long Riders and consider it the best film treatment of the Jesse James story. Your inclusion of the excellent Lone Star was also appreciated. Although it is primarily a detective story set in the west, it is an excellent examination of the intimate relations between latinos and "gringos" in the Southwest; kind of like a Texas Faulkner novel.

Thanks Jason, I tried to make a list of movies that had not yet been mentioned. "Little Big Man" is an excellent movie from the early 1970s featuring a young Dustin Hoffman.

I do not understand what Bruce's (The Last Druid) post is all about. All this negativity is a bummer, but mostly I ignore it.

I understand not all people get along, but if you do not like someone that does not give you the right to hijack their thread with nonsense. Two wrongs don't make a right, act like adults.

Thanks, Rich. I saw Little Big Man years ago when I was a kid, but I'll have to check it out again on your recommendation.

a few things occur to me here:

The first thing being that SoM in the past has not allowed threads like this on the forum- meaning that threads that were partly about baseball but largely about something else with absolutely no relation to baseball were removed or shut down. I'm not SoM- but there does not seem to be a consistent standard here.

Secondly,
why MUST the author respond to every perceived sleight? I'd think that derails the thread as much as anyone making another comment.

Lastly, I've mostly chosen to not get involved with these threads except in cases where I continue to see the author unnecessarily fight with other members- many of whom generally don't fight with anyone else.

Speaking of hijacking threads. Salty, who has actually called SOM "Nazis", is on my foes list for hijacking threads and incessantly (and disturbingly) talking about me. So, I don't read his posts. However, considering his past sordid behavior, I wouldn't be surprised if he did it again without saying anything about the topic subject. It's amazing how the same veterans who whine about other posters' Forum behavior engage in such negative trolling behavior themselves.

P.s. Radagast, I forgot to mention my admiration for Pale Rider. It's an excellent splicing of Shane and The Magnificent Seven and, along with The Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven, really affirms Eastwood as the master of the modern Western.

Simply incorrect, not much to add to that.
Except what kind of person would respond without even knowing what something says?
I guess the answer is one who also has a problem telling the truth.

I see Salty most likely hijacked the forum again without saying anything about the forum topic. Apparently he's so narcissistic to think he doesn't need to do so. Considering he's the kind of man who would actually call SOM, or any decent people, "Nazis", I'm not surprised... ;)
