Or do I have to keep all 22? While this may be clear to everyone else, I feel I may not be clear on this and since I will be one of the first teams loading, I want to be certain not to botch it any more than I have throughout the draft. So humbly I ask, Paul, final instructions please.
We cannot drop keepers, except between seasons when the number of keepers goes down by one. You can trade keepers, but not drop them.
Therefore - the importance of making trades whenever a keeper is involved! As you have said before Paul (I'm finally getting it:
"a keeper's "keeper" class continues if a keeper comes for a keeper back." (i.e. only by trade for another keeper).
Am I write Paul?
I will repeat that phrase 100 times, until I can say it quickly.
In other words, if you trade a keeper for a "free agent" from another team, neither the free agent nor the keeper are keepers after that trade. But if you trade a keeper for another team's keeper, they both retain their keeper status for their new teams.
No Geoff. Keepers are always keepers. If a keeper is traded for a free agent, he is still a keeper.
Free agents are always free agents. If a free agent is traded for a keeper, he is still a free agent.
Example: I trade you two free agents for a keeper. I now have one additional keeper. He was yours, but now is mine. The free agents I sent to you are still free agents. You can drop them anytime you want. I am stuck with your former keeper, unless I trade him.
I hope this helps!
