Probably a stupid question, but going to ask anyway....

What does a players defensive rating become if he is put at a position not listed on his card?
....say a lf that the strat gods put in cf because there is no other cf option ?

Thanks
Bob

He gets the highest fielding rating possible for that position. That means a 5 range at any position. The error rating is whatever is the highest number for that position. To me it is like the price of something where they say if you have to ask you cannot afford it. The defensive penalty at any position is so high if you are not getting enough offense to offset the defensive penalty regardless of what it is then no point in asking. You cannot afford it.

Suppose that brings up the question. Is there any player in the set who you think is so good offensively you would use him anyway? The league is a no DH league. Ruth or fill in the blank is rated worst possible for a position. Would you use him anyway? Is there anyone you would still use in starting lineup under those circumstances?

Though quick disclaimer. Board game rules do not enforce the worst rating possible for OFers if they are rated somewhere for OF. Moving a corner OFer to CF adds 1 to the range rating and error rating stays the same if I remember right. But I do not think the online game makes that calculation. I think it just applies the max penalty.
