Jays acquire Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buerhle, and Emilio Bonifacio, in exchange for Yunel Escobar, Henderson Alvarez, Adeiny Hechavarria and Justin Nicolino.
Big trade! As an old bandwagon Jays fan, I am very excited for the Jays.

WOW, How much will Miami have to overpay for free agents in the future after this deal? You can almost set a watch by Marlins firesales, at least in the past they waited to win a World Series. They got some good prospects back and dumped a lot of salary... but at least my team ( the Mets) might have some competion for the NL east basement next season.

The AL East is a mother. Can the Orioles remain competitive in 2013 with these potential powerhose teams in their division?
With the Astros joining the AL West, it could make becoming a wildcard team from the AL East a tough chore.

the owners fleeced the community, to get a new stadium that will never be filled.
If I were the taxpayers/govt, I would sue those guys.

I cannot fault the Marlins for unloading these guys. That team was 69-93 last year. It was simply poorly constructed and a textbook case of throwing money at something without a real plan.
Anyone believe keeping it together would have made them competitive? My only question would be how good the prospects are? Could they have got more for those veterans from other teams?

It's not like they didn't have talent, the "coaching" (I use the term loosely) job last season for them was horrible.
That being said, they've taken the revenue sharing for YEARS and pocketed it doing nothing. They promised to change and field a competitive team. Apparently fleecing the community for 2.4 billion (after interested) and now fleecing the other MLB owners. They will turn out a AAA roster and pockets millions more again every season.
It has been a recurring this with them since the Expos and now Marlins. Selig continues to let his "friends" destroy the sanctity of baseball.

Those of us that witnessed the Loria debacle here in Montreal know what a scumbag he is. He maneuvered into ownership in completely bad faith, immediately undermining the ownership consortium that was put together and engineering its demise. Seriously, he cares nothing for the fans or the game, and simply works every angle to make an extra buck.

Jays just signed Melky to a 2 yr deal
I have a problem blaming this on Bud the Marlins have done this since they moved to Florida the 2 championships were won and then they followed it up with a fire sale the next year i agree the ownership is out to just make a buck but thats also the business end of sports its unfortunate but true some owners are in this just to make money look at the lock outs of the last couple years those were and still are only about how much the owners make the Nfl owners make money they just wanted a bigger cut of it
