AL Only Keeper Rules
Initial Draft:
1) The initial draft will be a 31 round live draft. Rounds 1 through 30 will be for players and Round 31 for the stadium choice.
2) Any carded player in the AL and Houston Astros within the 2012 set is eligible for selection.
3) We will use the regular set for each season. You may draft an unleashed player, just won't be able to use him in "unleashed" year.
4) The initial draft will be serpentine. Draft order will be determined by a randomizer. See "General Rules" #2 for divisional alignments. All subsequent FA drafts will be non-serpentine and will be based on the previous season’s combined regular season records. Draft picks may be traded.
5) There will be a continuous 2 hour clock for the first 2 Rounds of the draft 9am - 9pm EST with time slots assigned in 1 hour increments for the subsequent rounds.
Annual Spring Free Agent drafts:
1) A non-serpentine FA draft of at least 10, but no more than 15 rounds, will be held each year within a week of the new set’s release from SOM. Draft order will be determined by cumulative W-L regular season records with a worst to first like the NFL.
2) All owners must drop enough players to bring their rosters to a maximum of 20 players allowing for 10 draft picks. Owners may drop below 20 but must stop at 15 prior to the draft. If an owner has obtained FA picks via trade(s), they must follow the above rules and if they utilize FA picks obtained prior to the 10th round, they forfeit any further picks once their roster is at 30.
3) Roster drops must be announced one week after SOM's release of the online game.
4) All owners must have a full 30 player roster upon completion of the FA draft.
5) There will be a time slots assigned for picks 9am - 9pm EST.
General Rules:
1) There will be 2 seasons played each year with Season 1 beginning after each year’s Spring Free Agent draft and Season 2 sometime TBD around August/September.
2) Divisional assignments will change each season. We will utilize the new SOM division randomization process.
3) All transactions must be posted on the individual league chat thread.
4) The league commissioner will maintain a record of all drafts, transactions and player movement and provide a copy via email at the beginning of each new year or upon request.
5) All ties between teams will be broken by run differential or if needed, the previous regular season’s head to head W-L record.
6) All rules changes will require 8 owners approval to pass.
7) Teams may be run at owner's discretion but it is also expected that all owners will act in the best
interests of the league.
8) We will utilize the DH in the league.
9) To remain on a roster, each player must maintain his AL status in each year's newly released SOM set to be eligible. i.e. if a player in 2012 set (Greinke/Angels) gets signed or traded to a NL team for next year's set, they wouldn't be eligible to remain on a roster and must be cut prior to Spring FA draft.
Stadium Rules:
1) Each owner will draft a stadium during Round 31 of the Initial Free Agent draft.
2) Stadium draft order will be the reverse of Round 1 from the Initial Free Agent draft.
3) Stadiums are unique and belong to each owner for a 2 year (4 seasons) minimum. Stadiums may be traded during the offseason period before the start of either season. Upon a new owner taking over a team, the new owner may change their stadium from the remaining stadiums at either of the offseason periods.
Roster Rules:
1) Each team must carry a maximum of 30 players. In the event a transaction sends an owner’s roster above the 30 player maximum, the owner has 1 day to bring roster back to 30. If an owner has less than 30 players due to trades, the owner may not bring their roster to 30 until the FA draft, whether Spring or Supplemental or through an unbalanced trade in their favor as long as the 30 player maximum is kept.
2) Each team's roster size is up to the owner as long as it meets SOM minimum and maximum requirements.
3) We will have a $200 million salary cap and utilize only a 10% FA penalty.
4) The minimum roster size is 25 players with the only exceptions happening during the Free Agent draft period.
Player Movement:
1) The trading of players and draft picks is authorized and encouraged. Unbalanced trades are authorized provided the 30 man roster limit is maintained at all times. In the event of an unbalanced trade, the owner of the team whose roster exceeds 30 players must announce their cut upon confirmation of the trade to bring them back to 30.
2) There will not be any pickups of Free Agent players except through the Annual Spring or Supplemental drafts.
3) Players can only be released from the 30 man roster for the following: a) pre-draft release prior to Annual Free Agent draft, b) pre-draft release prior to Supplemental Free Agent draft, c) to bring a roster down to 30 as a result of an unbalanced transaction.
