Not to ignore your complaint about his performance, but here is some good reading on bullpen management from some rock solid veterans:
http://forum.onlinegames.strat-o-matic. ... 1&t=613465Yeah, he entered the game at F0. That's always really bad news for the team in the field. I've read on other posts by veterans that the level of tiredness actually GETS WORSE with every additional batter faced, even after you hit F0. In other words, there are (theoretically) minus levels of endurance - they just don't get displayed.
The actual mechanism is a mystery, except that managers have noted that there tend to be more batter card results. In my own view (anecdotally) I see pitchers giving up more of everything that is bad, from walks, to base hits, to homeruns.
I try to consider this when making my pitcher settings for a given night. (I pick a couple of favorite teams that I change the settings for each night, and the rest get a kind of default setting that I might change every couple of weeks). So, for example, if you're playing in Coors one night, you may wish to get all of your pitchers to stay in the game even when a little tired (using "slow hook", or "don't relieve before F8" with quick hook). That way, hopefully, you might use a few pitchers, but still have a few pitchers who are still fresh in the bullpen each night. (In other words, hopefully you don't use all of your pitchers 2 games in a row, with none left in the third game). I really hate getting stuck with a reliever coming in who is F0.
Not exactly going to make you feel better, but it's more information for making roster and strategy decisions down the road.
