Well without a dought my experiment is filing miserably. I put together a team of all "1"s with the exception of catcher just to see what would happen. Well I guess I had the wrong combination of 1's.....attached is link to this finely craft work of art....

I have a trade option of trading for Kyle Loshe and at the same time dropping Rollins as not to incure a 20% penalty. But them I still need a massive rebuild. So I may stuck with this mess....live and learn and get your butt kicked along the way....Any suggestions would be welcome. You can't fire the GM so uthenasia might be the best way to go...

It is way too early to say your experiment failed. And unless there is only a 5% penalty for dropping players I would NOT make a bunch of roster moves. Anytime I see a team in my division making a ton of mid season roster moves I get excited knowing my team's odds of beating this team have increased. In my 80 million dollar league I am seeing teams with 58 million worth of talent after all their mid season moves (unfortunately for me none of those teams that have made a bunch of moves are in my division). Teams are built in pre season, not mid season. Do not overhaul your team.

I do think that 1s in the field may be overpriced. I usually go for 2s in the field, sacrificing a little defense for hitting, speed, and value. But I would still like to reiterate that it is way too early to say your experiment is failed. It is hard to be patience when you are losing, but dropping a bunch of players and taking a 20% salary cap hit will seldom help you. If you can trade for Kyle Lohse, DO IT. He is kicking butt in my 80 million dollar league. With 12 games to play Lohse is 20-8 with a 2.53 E.R.A.

RB is right. The surest way to ensure a bad season in a single-season league is to start making a bunch of moves--any moves really if it involves a 20 percent drop. Also, your season is just getting started. Twenty-four games is too small of a sample to tell where your team might be going.

Many times over, the best move I ever made was no move at all.

PS. I always like to add if you ever find yourself in my division, disregard what I said. In that case, drop players early and often!

Of all your 1's, the only one I would NOT want on my team is Moustakes. I like more hitting from 3b and it's the least important defensive position ( I know most people say 1b but I believe this to be false)

Dale,
A 2 with low #errors is just as good as a 1 with a lot of errors. Also, your bullpen doesn't seem organized.

I appreciate all of your advice. I will hold steady and hope things turn around. I didn't think of the "2"'s with low errors being as good as 1's ...good advice.

I don't know how this chart came about but it seems reasonable.

This one is very detailed and accurate, doesn't take double plays into account though

My feeling is a bit different than "1s being overpriced". I do think that in most situations there is a certain amount of diminishing returns that you get for spending on defense, especially at lower (< 100M) salary caps. I am a firm believer in having "good but not great" team defense. One or two 1s up the middle is usually a good idea, but hiding some bad defenders in the corners doesn't seem to hurt all that much compared to what you give up in additional salary to pay for all that defense. Sometime a 3 and 2b or ss can be a real good thing too, as long as you balance it out elsewhere else.

But, as others have said, let the experiment play out. Teams such as this can be a great learning experience.

Oh, and Rollins has absolutely SUCKED for me too. What is it what that card?
