Weird Substitution Process

As a new player in my first season of SOM online, I am wondering if the following has happened similarly to someone else:

I was playing a game where my catcher, Montero, was injured for the remainder of the game. My backup catcher, Rosario, was also in the game as my DH against the LHP I was facing. Rather than losing the DH as any manager would in order to put a competent catcher in, HAL decided to sub a non-catcher (Jamey Carroll). Several passed balls and stolen bases later, I lost a close game I should probably have won. So, does the simulation completely ignore the option of losing the DH to replace an injured player, or did it for some ridiculous reason just decide that I was better off with a pathetic catcher but 9 hitters?

correct, in a DH league the SOM engine will not pull the DH and make the pitchers hit. That is the risk you run when putting your only backup C at DH.

Last night, the computer pinch-ran for my catcher with Travis Lee, which is fine... After the inning it brought in Todd Hundley to catch, which is fine... but at the same time, it somehow also moved Carlos Baerga from 2b to catcher, which is not fine! Then of course a new 2b had to come in... So pinch-running for my catcher used up 3 bench players. Hundley is listed as having played, when in fact he never set foot on the field. Now granted, he's a terrible catcher, but I think he's (slightly) better than a utility infielder!
