It's too bad I can't really do it. If I could, I would. Why does HAL not have A and AA rated players steal second when I have the steal stealing set at "Aggressive." What does the word "Aggressive" mean to HAL? I'll tell you what it means to HAL. It means not stealing any bases in the first two games of a three game series when the opposing pitcher can't hold a runner to save his life and then trying to steal third base with B rated base stealers when he has a pitcher that is an expert at holding runners (-4 rating). Of course, if I put the streal setting on "Very Aggressive" all my players will get thrown out trying to steal third with no one out. What a joke. My time player this simulation is close to coming to an end.

B I N G O! I am a BTDT on that one. He won't steal when behind or when ahead only when it doesn't matter in the game.

On May 28 in the Wish List sub-forum, I posted a request for a don't steal third base option (or at least an option to steal third less) and not a single person responded. With such apparent apathy toward this subject, no wonder it will never get changed.

I don't know if anyone reads the wish list all--(including S-o-M) because there is never an acknowledgement---Though I agree with a don't steal third switch, and don't take third with two out switch would be nice also (especially if you are behind) I think HAL makes poor decisions on the bases too---to keep people from getting thrown out too much you have to go conservative---if you want to run--aggressive is both not aggressive enough taking 2nd and too aggressive taking 3rd.

For baserunning decisions (not SB's) the computer (CD) game offers a detailed decision tree; for example, one such decision is you can tell HAL that with 2 outs you only want a runner to try for 3rd if his safe % is at least 85% (or whatever you want). Seems like SOMO could implement that without too much programming trouble.
Regarding SB's, HAL may be trying to steal but the runners may not be getting a lead, even the best basestealers usually have less than 50% chance of getting a lead.

travelingjack hit it right on the head. It is all about getting the lead. If the roll says the runner does not get a lead he will not run even in aggressive mode which is geared more towards more attempts of 3rd and home. I like running teams but it has bitten me a few times as recent as last night with a tying run getting thrown out at home on a steal attempt with 2 out, ugh. Maybe the game should add a steal at all costs option where lead or not the guy is running although game results would be so unrealistic although seeing some numbers I have seen in this game what would it matter haha
