Backup CF question.

I know in the board or CD-rom game you can move a 2 RF to CF & rate him at 3, I also know the online game doesn't allow this.
My question is about this scenario---you have a 4LF, 2CF, and 2RF for your three starters--on the bench you have another 4LF and a 3RF, but no backup CF (no one on team is rated at CF but the Starter)--
If the CF gets hurt will hal put in the backup 3RF at CF and rate him at 4??? ,---or maybe move the starting rf to cf, and rate him at 3 with the 3RF sub in at RF--- and if the 4LF is a much better offensive player is it likely hal will put him in at CF at 5---of will the online game put in a 5 CF regardless???
I haven't run into this yet, but curious.

I have been lobbying to change this in the on-line game for years. It is a minor detail but there is no reason guys like Michael Brantley, Drew Stubbs or Coco Crisp who are only rated for CF (most years) can not play LF on the computer and board games, so why not here?... As far as your question about who Hal will put in CF if your CFer goes down I do not know the answer to that one. But if I had to guess I would guess the computer will put another OFer in CF and he will not be a 5.

I've seen this question answered several different ways, so I too would be curious to know the real answer.

I believe it's a programming issue.
Though we have been told that if it HAS to move it (no other eligible players) it does follow that rule. I know someone before who took advantage of that and had 2 high end CF and no LF eligible player on the roster. Left LF blank and it moved one of the CF over automatically to fill that blank spot.

This person would not have to do that if they would program the on-line game the way the CD-ROM works and the way the board game rules were written. It is silly that Michael Brantley can not play LF in the on-line game.

Agreed. This is one reason I have stayed away from Kemp (except in my first league, but I didn't know any better). I have him in 3 CD-rom leagues and he's playing RF in all 3. Almost went for Eaton on my last team, but I just can't play a 3 in CF
