If you set your relievers as lefty (or righty) specialty pitcher but one pitcher is righthanded and the other is lefthanded, will Hal determine which pitcher has the better mathematical percentage for achieving the out OR mathematical percentage for receiving less offensive damage in those situations?

I don't think so-- I had Travis Snider on a few teams, he is a LH hitter that kills LH pitching, he is actually weak power vs RH pitchers, but hal often brought a LH specialist in to face him, when he should have left a RH out there or brought in a RH reliever.
Most of the time the matchups will work -- unless a PH is brought in.

I think who ever is listed 1st in your pitcher preferences will be the 1st option for HAL, unless the 1st pitcher is fatigued.

I second the experience with Snider; I can't tell you how many PH HRs he hit for me off LH specialists. It's a hidden advantage for lefties who kill lefties.

Same for Moss and rhps. HAL keeps pulling my lefties when Moss comes u
