Bourjos for Freese

PostFri Nov 22, 2013 10:27 pm

And the Cards just keep getting better. They get to have Bourjos erasing all fly balls in center field as a substantial defensive improvement (and maybe even offensive one) over Jay; Carpenter moves to his natural position at third, which could lead to even more offensive production; and Kolten Wong brings improved defense and speed to second base..............and they also get Grichuk and his power pop potential.

Does anyone else think the Cards just moved closer to getting back to October, or does anyone think the Angels got the better deal with Freese?

I think the Angels got a potentially good piece, as well as a solid RP, at the expense of a player that doesn't really fit with them (value is not maximized if Trout and Bourjos are not both playing CF). I think the Cards get a flat-out great deal though.

I think BOTH teams make out well.

Bourjos and Trout can play anywhere in the OF. Being out here in SoCal, I've witnessed those guys getting to almost every ball.

The Angels needed help @ 3B desperately. If Freese can return to form, and they can get some pitching, they will be tough. If Bourjos stays healthy and hits .270, he'll work out for the Cards.

I'm glad to see Freese go anywhere else than to the Yankees.

this is why i love the cardinals, move one over-rated piece and improve at 3 others (3b, cf, 2b) defensively.

thanks for 2011 freese! but wow this is a great reason why st louis is still the BEST franchise across all sports!

Then they sign Perelta @ SS  There goes the Defense again!

As an Angels fan, I'm just meh on this (like everything they've done). Freese rated a worse 3B defensively than Miggy for crying out loud! He would need to be able to return to the .290 20+ HR talent, otherwise the pitching Bourjous should have returned makes it a plain loss.

I still don't know why the Angels kept that inane GM. I mean yea, I know Arte has a big say, but anyone could look at the home/road splits of Ianetta and Hamilton and see those are not good moves for the home park. Same with anyone and everyone know, going form NL to AL mean tacking on about 1 to your ERA, so let's sign Blanton and his 5 ERA over to the AL??? Yea, I can't believe he still has a job TBH.
