Will Khris Davis get a regular card?

or will he be in the unleashed set? I remember 2 years ago De Aza did not get a card and he had around 25 more ABs than Davis and a equally lethal card. What do you guys think?

My guess is that he won't get a card for online play. He hit 6 HRs in 50 plate appearances last year vs. left handed pitchers. That way his OPS is just over 1. I'm guessing that card might be able to hit over 60 HRs in the right park with a decent number of left handed starters and historically SOM doesn't usually like to see that happen.

As a Brewers fan, I _hope_ he gets at least an "unleashed" card, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Normally I wouldn't think so.. but then again, normally B Moss would have been unleashed as well, but he was put in the regular set.

there is no rhyme or reason, again the year before with Da Aza vs Lawrie, where as De Aza had more AB's, gmaes played etc, but as unleashed and Lawrie was regular.

They randomly pull names from a hat, you won't know until the game is released.

Moss had 265 ABS in 86 games in 2012, so I'm really not surprised he was placed in the regular set and not in the unleashed. Has there ever been another player who had 265 ABs and 86 games played who wasn't included in the regular set?

Carlos Baerga 2003 card set 231 PA, 207 ab's, so not quite 265, BUT he appeared in 105 games, NO CARD, this was before unleashed existed. He put up a slash line of .343/.346/.464/.851 which while it was his best year statistically, was still in line with his best years in Cleveland in the early 90's, but for some reason the guys running the game excluded him completely. I've been railing against leaving cards out ever since.

The issue with Moss was about the same reason they gave us about Baerga in the past. The card was not in line with the career and would skew the stats for the entire game. Moss is always a HR leader, where he wasn't in real life.

That goes to the point, they make up rules for one year, then don't follow it for another. Hell they don't even follow it in the same year (see again, 2011 De Aza vs Lawrie).

Good luck getting any answer from SOM about. I'm with Niners, just price them all accordingly and let them all play.

De Aza had debuted in 2007 and in 2011 his OPS was almost 200 points above his best ops. Lawrie was a hot shot rookie who was a first round draft pick. That may have factored into the decision.

Did Strat actually cite a player's season "not being in line with the (player's) career" as reason for excluding that player's card from the Strat set? If that was the case, then Strat should have excluded Chase Headley's, Ian Desmond's, and Justin Ruggiano's 2012 cards from the 2012 set, since none of those players had approached their 2012 production in their previous seasons. I definitely agree with Strat setting some minimum requirements for inclusion in a season's set, and Brandon Moss did surpass reasonable minimums of AB's and games. However, I would not agree with Strat excluding players because their season was "not in line with a (player's) career.' That would exclude every breakthrough season that a player has early--or even midway or late--in his career, which would be ridiculous.

It's actually a little of, "the guy has/will never hit those numbers again", and/or "if we allow him in, he'll be atop the leader boards in X Y Z category and he'd never do that in the real game", or my favorite "it's not realistic."

Those are pretty much the reasons given by Bernie and the play testers when Baerga was excluded.

Arguments I find specious at best.

NONE of these guys put up the numbers the do in real life becasue we aren't simply simming the season. They ( the stats) are going to be affected because we play with only 12 teams, in possibly 9 Coors fields in a season, with all star pitching staffs, etc. so who cares if Baerga leads the Online strat leagues in batting average.
And as for the realism argument, this game ain't realistic, not in this format. You want the real numbers? buy the CD-ROM game and sim the actual season. This whole online game is one big case of What If... As in, what if I platooned the guys that hits .350 vs RHP and .230 vs LHP with a guy that hits .350 vs LHP ,even if his card says he had 620 ab's and he never sat vs LHP "in real life".
Or What If I set my 7mil closer to set up and relieve and get him 200 + innings wonder if that will make my bullpen more effective.
I fail to understand how these anomalies are okay but we can't have a Baerga lead the league in batting average or on base percentage, because, "it isn't realistic" "it upsets the balance of the game" or "he never would have done that in real life".

Well guess what, no starting pitchers pitch on 3 days rest anymore, yet you can do that and only use a 4 man rotation.
It simply doesn't make sense.

You guys got me going early this year. ;)

More fuel for the fire. Karim Garcia in 2002 was left off.
His numbers:
PAs - 210(296)
ABs - 202(265)
Runds - 30 (48)
Hits - 60(77)
2B - 8(18)
HRs - 16(21)
RBIs -52(52)
BA - .297(.291)
OBA - .314(.358)
SLG - .574(.596

Brandon Moss numbers are in parentheses and Garcia's numbers don't look to crazy to me. But Strat is CRAZY on who they say is Leashed or Unleashed.
