Does anyone know the particulars concerning the new 6 team leagues ? Is there a thread somewhere that I missed ? How do the playoffs and credits work for these new six team leagues? I think it is a good option for leagues that are hard to fill.

Look at Garcia's latest blog and it says there's no playoff and the winner is the team with the best record. I just set-up a 1999 6 team league which is a good option because 1999 takes a long-time to fill a 12 team league.

Thanks for the information. I think this is a very nice option for leagues that want to use the 1999 or 1986 sets and want their leagues to fill fast. I did not see any information on Garcia's Blog about credits being awarded to the winner or runner up, did I miss that too ? Do you know if there are any credit rewards? Thanks much.

1 credit to the winner (odds are 1/6 same as 12 team to win 1 credit (4/12 x 1/2), but without the 1/12 chance at 2 credits. and head-to-head-to-head is still not a tiebreaker.
From the game Rules
6-team leagues:
- The team with the best record at the end of the regular season: receives 1 free credit
- What happens in the event of a tie for best record in a 6-team league?
The tiebreakers for a 2-way tie in a 6-team league are, in order:
- Head-to-head record
- Run differential
- Coin flip
The tiebreakers for a 3-way tie or more in a 6-team league are, in order:
- Run differential
- Coin flip

So one credit to the winner. That's one credit for six teams as opposed to 3 credits for 12 teams..?.. Still it is a very nice option to consider... Thanks for the info Scumby Jr.!

Yeah, avg payoff is 1/6 credit instead of 1/4 credit.
1/6 chance at being in Finals. 1/12 chance of winning it all. So 3/12-->1/4.
One problem I see if a team going up 10 after 60 games. At least with 12 teams, you might get lucky and be in the worst division.

Well your stats are off a bit.
the amount of teams winning anything are the same (only the 2 teams reaching the finals were given a credit, so 2/12 is the same as 1/6).
the difference is the teams that won were given out 3 total credits, or an average of 1.5 credits per winning team. This is just one... for the same price.
On the other hand, easier to get who you want, only have to compete with 5 others not 11 others. Easier to have a stacked team.

Wait. In a 12 team league, the winner gets 2 credits and runner up gets 1, no?
I may be crazy.
I won a 12 team league and received 2 credits.
I was runner up in another and received 1 credit.
So that's 3 credits up for grabs across 12 teams. 1/4

Each league offers a one in six chance shot at winning something. The 12 team leagues pay out 3 credits for every 12 teams (or one credit per four players), the six team leagues pay out one credit for every six teams. Still, in both leagues you have a one in six shot at winning something, since only two people win in the 12 team leagues.
I would like to see them set up a championship game for the six team leagues. Without playoffs there could be as few as ONE team in contention for the last 20 games or so. Where as, with a championship at least two teams would be in contention right up until the end and it is more likely that three or four teams could be in contention.
I am just offering my three cents. I do like the fact that they are adding more options. This six team format should be great for the less popular sets that take a long time to fill. And you will be able to get most of the players you like because you are only battling with five other competitors for players.

Why is it half the people here don't understand math? You don't have a 1/4 change of winning a credit, only 2 people win credits, once just wins 2 instead of one.
the changes of winning anything (1+ credits) are the same in both league 1/6 (or 2/12 for those that don't know the ratios).
The amount you win is what is less, the chances of winning are the same. There is a difference.
