There are so many good shortstops in this new set. I like a lot of them. Anyone willing to share their opinion on Everth Cabrera?.... Do you think he is worth the money, is he a good value? Has Cabrera performed well for you? I like his defense, speed and OBP but I am a bit worried about his card leaning so far to the left. He would make a good lead off hitter against LHP but I would probably bat him last vs. RHP...... Thanks for sharing any comments!

Cabrera would make a nice leadoff vs. LH's.
I prefer Segura though. Not quite as good as Cabrera vs LH's however he does hit them very well.
Plus 30+ hit chances vs. RH's without the injury risk.

just a observation here
now that i have some teams completed and a few more deep into seasons....
I will say Simmons is not the waste I(and many others) thought he would be.
his biggest advertised liability, hitting into DP's, has been quite limited.
I have him on 2 teams and he is not in the league leader board for DP's hit into nor is he leading either of those teams.
I do have him set to bunt more and im sure that helps but he has also slugged well...one team he bats 8/9 and is pacing for 90RBI+...his avg is low...his OBP is low....his errors are also low.....but when he hits it it has impact and when its hit to him...its all over!
i have also used Cozart in Yankee twice for his decent D and low salary...allowing me to double up on big time HR guys

Since I haven't played this set, at first I wasn't sure if you meant "Bumper Crop" or "Bummer Crop" in your title!

Oops, yes I meant "Bumper Crop" as in a lot of good SS values. .... I love the way Everth Cabrera plays, lots of speed, OBP and defense but I decided to go with Alexi Ramirez who I see as a great value.

Visick, I am using Jean Segura on another team that plays at Fenway and I am satisfied with him so far. Segura is killing LHP so I bat him leadoff vs. LHP and like 8th against RHP.

I am using Segura in 3 different leagues, and each time I got him between 10-12th pick in the drafts:

This one is full season stats from a completed league:

Wow! Jean Segura stole 76 bases for you, that is great! ... Segura is a nice value and he would be great in certain keeper leagues! He is really killing it against LHP for me.......
On a totally unrelated topic I noticed one of my favorite players Jason Kipnis is not performing well in any of the three leagues I am in that are at least halfway through the season. Certain players never seem to reach their stolen base potential, but I guess that is due to the better crop of catchers and pitchers.
