Home Field Advantage

Does Strat do something to create a home field advantage? I think I have seen other games where they build in a home field advantage into the fast action cards, but there isn't a glaringly obvious home field advantage (or I am just dopey enough to miss it) in Strat.

But no matter how good or bad my team, it always performs better at home than on the road, despite little effort to take a park and tailor a team special to it. Obviously, the cards are just cards, unaffected by hometown cooking or booing crowds.

One little thought also comes to mind: swap out some of the "remainder of game" injuries for a few "player ejected for arguing called strike three"s. No good or useful reason for the change, just liven the play by play up after all these years.

Since you are in theory tailor made for your park and visiting teams are not seems logical you should have a better record at home than road.

And as I understand the rules Strat adds an addional 5% shift in how often dice rolls. Want to say I read somewhere the impact is 5-10% shifted toward the cards representing the home team.

In theory, yes, Valen. But the effect still appears (although I do not track it as closely and so it wanders into the realm of anecdotal observation) when my teams visit "same" parks.

Yes, there is a built-in home-field advantage; it's one of the Maximum Rules used in the online game:

"Home field advantage -- This forces a statistical advantage of approximately 10 points (.010) on the batting average for the home team. This is the traditional major league difference between batting averages at home and on the road."

My apologies. My answer was not clear.
Simple and direct answer is yes. There is a feature in the cdrom super advanced rules for home field advantage. And yes as I understand that feature is turned on. If you search back in the forums you will find threads where this was discussed and various people lobbied for keeping it and others lobbied for eliminating it. I have waffled on it some (probably a lot) but think those who wanted it turned off have convinced me it should be turned off.

No waffling here. I really like home field advantage. It's highly realistic both in concept and in execution. It also gives motivation to get home field advantage for the playoffs.

Next people will want to turn off clutch hitting, ballpark effects, and injuries. Oh wait! There are people who want to do just that!

I wouldn't turn it off, I guess I never saw any out-right declaration such a feature existed. Apparently my mind is still nimble enough to make observations and create a hypothesis (theory? I wasn't a science major).

I'd leave it on, I just wondered if things were as they appear on the card alone, something seemed odd.

The biggest home field advantage is building your team around it. Whatever secret built in advantage allows weaker teams to win a few more home games. Doesn't bother me. If you have a poor home field record it is a sign your team needs tweaking.

Just finished up this league where I posted 56 road wins. The league parks played into my team pretty well, but 56 is still a lot of road wins. I have had to many teams win that many home games.

I think it is stated on one of the wiki pages that home field adjustment is turned on.
This was a huge discussion at one time on the TSN boards before Bernie got permission/confirmation and was able to post on the boards what features were turned on and what was turned off.

I can see both sides. For most players in real life I think there is a home field advantage. I do not have aggregate stats to back that up. Just anecdotal things. Kinsler always had better split numbers at home in Arlington. So most said he would not do well in Detroit. But now that Detroit is his home stadium he is doing quite well. A 315/353/517 slash line at home and 258/281/384 on the road. I think majority of players probably show a similar bias toward their home park which is the logic behind strat making the slight adjustment to improve home stats in general.
