Beckett says doesn't see himself rehabbing after surgery and pitching again after a torn labrum.

I always felt like he just didn't quite live up to the expectations, for a variety of reasons, most of them injury-related, but he did have a pretty good career in general and ended with a solid, albeit shortened, last season.

typical of him...too lazy too often

he had 3 maybe 4 decent seasons...
was injured all the time...only had 3 200 IP season...seemed to suffer from big ego syndrome as well

I think what he did best was collect checks....

baseballreference.com has his career earnings at......$116,465,624

He's my ace on a 2007 24-team league I am playing right now. I am hoping to generate good karma that will wash over to his Strat card.

I always stump friends with "How many 200 strikeout seasons did Beckett pitch?" The answer- none. For all the hype in his heyday, that always seems to shock people.

He did do a pretty good Curt Schilling impression in two post seasons:

2003 23 FLA NL NLDS W SFG 0 1 .000 1.29
2003 23 FLA NL NLCS W CHC 1 0 1.000 3.26
2003 ❍ MVP 23 FLA NL WS W NYY 1 1 .500 1.10

2007 27 BOS AL ALDS W LAA 1 0 1.000 0.000
2007 MVP 27 BOS AL ALCS W CLE 2 0 1.000 1.93
2007 ❍ 27 BOS AL WS W COL 1 0 1.000 1.29
