Did the Mets join the American League or was the AL Rookies just that bad?

Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom won the AL Rookie of the Year award, receiving 26 of the 30 first-place votes from the Baseball Writers Association of America. DeGrom, 26, posted a 9-6 record, 2.63 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings. Over his final 15 starts, he went 9-2 with a 1.90 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10.0 strikeouts per nine innings.

DeGrom is the first Mets player to win the award since pitcher Dwight Gooden in 1984. (emphasis added)

If it had been the Astros or the Brewers, I probably wouldn't have noticed. The Mets are, even though a relatively recent team, a definitive NL team.

In this past week's Sports Weekly on the upcoming schedule for the Steelers it shows a game at the Atlanta Braves. :D

No mention of whether they are using NL or NFL rules on that? Neither team has much for a designated hitter this year.
