Mike Trout has a +1 throwing arm. He is described as a 5 tool player. But can he be considered a 5 tool player with a plus rated throwing arm? Does strat have that wrong?

Assuming accurate ratings what do you consider to be the cutoff with respect to strat throwing arm rating for throwing to be considered one of the 5 tools a player is credited for?

IMO..... Any negative arm is a defensive asset.... Tool if you will.

0 is neutral

Any + arm is a defensive .... Let's say limitation.

Thanks for the link Wavy. Based on the scientific analysis, it looks like SOM got it right. +1 or maybe a 0 would be the correct rating.

Thanks for the link. A very interesting read. Spock might even say it was fascinating.
It would be very interesting to analyze that runner help % for all OFers today. And maybe even more interesting if it existed for past players. Though not sure how far back you could go and have enough information to be accurate.
