Apparently, if I try to draft Matt Kemp, I get Kevin Kiermaier every time.

The autodraft will give you the next highest salaried player with the same primary position - if you try for Kemp (RF), the next choice should be Cuddyer, then Calhoun and then Kiermaier.

If any team has Cuddyer and Calhoun on their draft list, as well as Kemp - it would indeed fall to Kiermaier.

I like Kiermaier. For under 5 mil, you either get a very good center fielder or an outstanding right fielder who hits righties well and has a little bit of speed. He's done well for a few of my teams:

Risden, I know HOW the autodraft works, just a bit of amused that I am getting Kiermaier anytime I want Kemp.

l.strether-- he looks ok, I haven't had him on a roster but think he looks over-priced for what I have found to work for me this year. He does offer excellent fielding, but the 5R on a hitter who has a low OBP is off-putting to me. ANything less than a B steal rating, I get squeamish.

Well, I use him as a platoon player, and I have no problem paying 4.7 m for a platoon player strong against righties, particularly one with pop and excellent defense. He isn't an OBP player, but he did have a .338 for one of my teams while hitting 21 hrs. As to his speed, since this is Advanced rules, I don't put as much emphasis on letter ratings. He does have a *3-7/10 (15-8) base stealing rating, which isn't bad, and he is a 1-15 runner, which is solid.

Anyway, it is your team, so all that matters in your decision is if you think he's good enough.

I'd just like Auto Draft to get me someone different for a change. I guess that is how the cookie crumbles, but I would have thought more than the winner and me are after Kemp.
