Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365

The community will be self-policing with moderators chosen from within. However, Strat-O-Matic reserves the right to monitor all discussion on this forum. If a violation occurs, Strat-O-Matic will suspend or terminate a customer’s account at the company's sole discretion depending on the nature of that violation. Unless the offense is deemed extremely egregious, Strat-O-Matic will follow these steps:

- A warning will be issued.
- If there is a repeat offense there will be a suspension of forum privileges for 2 weeks.
- If, upon reinstatement, there is another offense, that customer will be permanently banned from this forum.
- If that customer causes any other disruptions his Strat-O-Matic account may be terminated for violating the rules

NChavez, if you are going to start an inflammatory thread, at least show the class of addressing those with whom you have a problem.

I, myself, agree there have been too many hostile, personal attack posts on the Forum, and people need to focus on SOM and baseball.

We could do without hostile, abusive posts like this one:

Well, if the powers-that-be at Strat don't monitor the board enough to even be aware that they were called "old farts," I am not going to shed a tear for them. Not to mention, "offensive" can either be in the eye of the beholder or according to a community standard. I don't personally consider the phrase offensive, and if I were to use the phrase, it would be connected to state of mind than age. For example, my father was old at age 93, but he also was quite proficient with the Internet and if he had had a need for a cell, he would have mastered that tech pretty quickly too. Me, on the other hand? I miss some of the old DOS commands and find my cell phone to be a neat little replacement for my travel alarm clock.

You may not consider "old farts" offensive, Blue Turtle. But it is, by most community standards, an offensive ageist term when it is hurled at a group whose large lot of (if not majority of) members are over 50. It was addressed to all SOM managers, not just SOM

Your father sounds like an excellent man, but it would still have been rude of someone who didn't know him to call him an "old fart."

But "old fart" as ageist and offensive? You're never going to convince me that even a sizable of minority of people think it is, even if it had been directed specifically at them.
