Has anyone had really great luck with Kershaw? It seems like I have his current reality card (AT&T).

I had him in a $100 mil league and he went: 17-14, 2.98 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and gave up 30 HR's (Tropicana)

$80 mil league: 19-9 1.98 ERA, .90 WHIP and gave up 19 HR's (PNC)

$80 mil league- NL Only and Unique Stadiums (Current Stats): 2-4, 3.94 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and has given up 8 HR's so far (AT&T)

I rarely ever spend that much on a SP, even if he's a *SP, so I'm speaking from observation, not personal experience. Kershaw almost always does very well, and I think it's safe to expect excellent production from him. The real question is whether his production as a 9m non-* Sp is going to be that much better than cheaper starters, including cheaper *SP's. And, from my observations, that hasn't been the case. If I was going to spend on an ace pitcher, I would go for Wainwright, Kluber, Cueto, or even Sonny Gray, who won 18 games with a low ERA for a playoff Miller Park team of mine.

Kyle Lobstein actually went 19-3 with a 2.49 ERA for that team, so I'm definitely one who would avoid spending for Kershaw:

I thought he would dominate in the NL only players with Unique Stadiums. I am hoping he turns it around.

I might not have drafted Kershaw, but once I did, I would not drop him. Patience is rewarded in baseball and Strat-O-Matic. Good luck going forward.

I have in on a Keeper League team, last years card was worth the $10 million. This years, without the *, is tough to spend $9 million on...but it all worked out...

I had Kershaw go 20-11 at GAB. He had a 2.40 ERA, .90 Whip and 335 K's in 33 starts. This was for an $80M, 2015 Championship tournament game! So I thought he was worth the $$$

That's solid production, and I wouldn't complain either if I were you. What your satisfaction points out, though, is really the actual topic of this discussion, rather than Kershaw. What we have all been discussing and/or debating is not just whether Kershaw is worth the money, but what exactly we expect to get for 9m.

And since all value is structural in SOM-online, the discernment of that is dependent on what we expect to get for 8m, and 7m, and 6m...and so on. I can't remember when we actually had a solid discussion thread on what we expect to get for each degree of money spent, as well as how we determine those expectations. So, it would be cool if someone who has actually spent some time thinking on the matter started such a thread. While I'm sure there will be many commonalities, I'm sure there will be some interesting differences as well...in values and methods.
