I have to go with Matheny over Bochy. Keeping that team playing at its present level with their injuries is most impressive. Your list of AL all-stars has only Wade Davis from the Royals. I would add Salvy Perez. He's the heart of the Royals and the best catcher overall in the AL. Molitor is getting it done with smoke and mirrors in Minnesota. He's my AL MOY.

I have no argument with any of your picks; they're all solid choices. Matheny is obviously doing an outstanding job; I went with Bochy, however, because he's managing the weaker team...particularly the weaker rotation. I also like how he smartly moved the free-swinging Pagan out of the leadoff spot for Aoki, and had the faith in Duffy to jettison McGehee early and install him at third.

I, myself, wavered between Hinch and Molitor; so, I'm obviously fine with Molitor for manager-of-the-year. I just particularly like Hinch's revolving use of his talented but erratic outfielders and of his bullpen.

As to there only being one Royal, i should have made clear my list is not who I think should be on the all-star team; it's my best at every position this year. Obviously, Perez is a superior defender to Vogt. However, I went with Vogt because he's solid, if not spectacular, defensively, and his offensive numbers are significantly better than Perez', particularly his .393 OBP to Perez' .281 OBP and his .925 OPS to Perez' .740 OPS.

It's illogical to list Scherzer higher than Cole in the Cy but lower in the MVP. The rules define "value" in the same way for both awards.
