Not that I intend on playing it, but the sample Duda card shows that BP effects are still being used unless SOM plans on negating that rule for "Basebase Daily". If not, it makes no sense.

Scumby, I'm not sure why BP factors wouldn't still be valuable. How does the daily card changes negate the BP factors? Can you help me understand your perspective on that?

To my understanding "Baseball Daily" is supposed to reflect the actual results as of the previous day's games. The BP effect is only known after the season ends unless it is also adjusted on a daily basis.

Gotcha, I see what you mean. It all depends what is used as the opening day cards, however they create that they could probably extend to BP ratings too. I see your point though.

I used to know how to create cards. How are ballpark diamonds determined? I think it has to do with amount of chances but may be wrong.

For ballparks, I think they use about three years of ballpark data to determine how ballparks are updated.

This has always baffled me but - I can see how ballpark dimensions have an effect on home runs - how would that factor in to ball park singles though? Base paths are the same distance. So.........? If the fences are further back, does that mean outfielders generally play deeper and then singles are easier to drop in? Remember - there's never a stupid question - just stupid people!!!

Wavy, now that you say it, I remember SOM sharing that a while back. So for this type of game, it could possibly start with the 3 year profile and change it as the season unfolds. That would be a good approach, but a park wouldn't change too much, there would need to be enough data to move the needle on the 3 years worth of history that goes into the initial rating.

I thought that too and compared a high BPS and lol BPS with real dimensions....that ain't it!

Nationals Park (1-17 singles)
Right Field:335 feet
Right-Center:370 feet
Center Field:402 feet
Left-Center: 377 feet
Left Field:337 feet

Petco Park (1-1 singles)
Right Field: 322 feet
Right-Center: 391 feet (was 402 feet)
Center Field: 396 feet
Left-Center: 390 feet (was 402 feet)
Left Field: 336 feet

LF to CF in Petco is approximately the same size as Nationals, and the BP factor is much smaller. So I have NO IDEA how this is derived.

It has to do with the size of the field and how many singles are given up. Think Coors field, It has a HUGE outfield in the hopes that not every ball will be hit out in the thin air, but that also means more ground for the OF's to cover so more balls drop in.
