Strategy Salary Cap Question

PostSat Dec 05, 2015 5:03 pm

Is it smart to spend .70 on a 2 range 15 backup SS when you have a 3 range 30 who is a very good hitter with a light green 1 injury rating ?

The alternative is a spending .70 on a backup SS who is also a 3 range 30 so considerably better as a pinch hitter

These would be my only 2 SS

With a low injury risk player, I often don't back them up at all. Let a 5 play there for the 6 games (on average) that they miss

Sorry for the confusion. I need to pick up a SS either way .....so it's either a .70 defensive or a .70 pinch hitter type..IF I pick up the 2 range Hal would presumably insert him in late innings if I was ahead in a close game. Otherwise it would be an extra pinch hitter with no better than a range 3 error 30 at best in any given situation

You'll get more from the .7 defense (if you use him as a defensive replacement) The only way the other .7 would help is if you were playing with no DH-

I agree with Terry101. SS is an important defensive position and it pays to have a 2 that can come in for the SS rated 3.
