He could do it, (guys used to pitch 350 plus innings in a season) his arm would probably be sore for a few days , and he was probably fatigued the second day. Sometimes the computer needs to do that because we only carry between 9 and 12 pitchers most of the time.... I think we should be forced to carry 30 man rosters.

I like your idea Radagast! It would be interesting to do a theme league based on realistic Useage.

In all seriousness, it wouldn't be that hard to do. You can set all starters to "F8 quick hook" - which means they get pulled as soon as they as start to tire. Doesn't quite work perfectly for realism but it would get closer. Or use limit of 7 innings, but I like the F8 quick hook better for realism

I found only one real-life example of a 1960's MLB pitcher starting, then relieving the next day. Tony Cloninger, 1965, started game 161, pitched four innings, then, relieved for one inning in game 162. He also did something similar in 1964, games 80 and games 81, but nothing as extreme as Stottlemeyer's example .

Realistic usage limits would be a cool theme... I also just like the idea of larger rosters, more decisions, more role players but it rarely pays to have more than 24 in a normal 80 million dollar league. Though I have used larger rosters and made it work...

That is interesting what you found out. Historically starters pitching two days in a row rarely happened but they did pitch all kinds of crazy innings pre 1980s ...

many of the face to face type leagues also have usuage rules
i.e. hitters can only be used +10% of actual ab's pitchers +10% of actual IP makes creating a roster more challenging
that means guys like Rafael ynoa are PH not full time DHs
vivan Correcaminos! Andale! Andale!

Indeed Roger Maris, I think most of the serious players out there (that do not play on-line) use some kind of usage limits.

I like the idea of usage limits but I also like the idea of mandatory larger rosters. Larger rosters just mean more players and stats to pour over, which is what we are here to do. It would be much more realistic, after all, how many real life MLB teams go through an entire season only using 24 players? I would like to see a mandatory of 28 players and the salary cap could be raised accordingly if necessary (85 million), or not... How about a theme that requires that 28 players be carried at all times?

Good point, Rad. So how about joining Ghost in Season-Ending Blowout #3, where at least the Instructional League requires 27 or 28 players?
