The Sound of Zeroes (with apologies to Simon and Garfunkel)

PostSun Jan 03, 2016 10:43 pm

Chris Young (07) rescues my cutthroat team -

"The Sound of Zeroes"

To the tune of "the Sound of Silence"

Hello Chris Young my old friend
Your oh se'en ( 2007) card is near again
In this 7 to 14 card set listing
Without an asterisk SP listing
With the sound of your fastball speeding to the umpire stee-rike calls
And backstop walls
The batters fanned, in the sound of zeroes

In the cut-throat league we played
Under the online Hal they made
At game 141 my rival really smoked me
At the trade deadline they swept me
And the email said to trade Halladay before the start of game 142
And so I choose
Chris Young 07, and the sound of zeroes

7 years ago he was on my team
And threw that fastball with that seam
In 2 straight games no no's he threw
With zero hits a few walks will do
And he pitched a sad sack team to the playoffs with his arm on fire, Hal knows
And fireballs throws
And Echo in the sound of zeroes

I just used that card again recently in a 2007-2014 league and he was the only non 2014 SP I used... Good luck GBrookes.

Please YouTube the cover done by Disturbed, of S&G's The Sound of Silence.

Just a great rendition, of a great song. They give it a metal edge, and still retain the original message. It's an eerily beautiful cover.

Love that Disturbed cover. I'm no metal head, but their interpretation is really beautiful and haunting like you said. With a little rage in the end...
