After many seasons of 20XX I have joined two ATG leagues!! After the draft I looked my teams over-Great Power,Great OB% Speed defense starting pitching Wow great teams!! Then I looked at my competition and Shazam! They also have great teams! What can I expect differently from the 20XX games? Is it just a crap shoot of the dice? I am looking forward to all my all time favorite players!!

As you already noted EVERYONE has a great team on paper. There is more of a fine line between success and failure. Experience and ability to make Hal do what you want is important. Matching players to ballpark matters a lot. That allows you to maybe get a little more out of that $9 mil you paid someone than the other guy gets from his $9 mil guy.

Depending on your cap you may need to adjust your thinking. A lineup full of .380 OBP guys may have been great in 20xx but given allstar pitching staffs that gets downsized fast and may even be overmatched by the other guy having a lineup full of .450 OBP guys. Ditto slugging. Put 3 .550 SLG guys in middle of a 20xx lineup and you may have something. Put 3 guys like that in an ATG lineup and the other guy counters with 3 or more .700 SLG guys and life gets difficult.

I think ATG is more about identifying how a lineup fits together more than in 20xx. There is no shortage of good players. Making sure the players complement each other and everything is maximized as much as possible is important. Creativity can help.

Last but not least spend some time looking through the player list. Good chance your better teams will have multiple players you never heard of before you started looking.

interested in joining a league, I am new to this. I am very willing and interested in learning all that is available to know. I played a competitors game for years, What-if-sports. But looking for new challenge can you assist.

Welcome to the madness Scully. Lots of people here who know what they are talking about who are willing to give advice.
And there are even more like myself who have opinions and more than willing to share. Whether those opinions are also good advice is sometimes open to debate.

If you have not seen this thread it is a good place to start.

Off and running with two $100 million teams one in 24 team league one in 12.

What a blast!! I thought $100 million would be unrealistic but its a hoot. No weakness~ Number 8 or number 9 hitters as good as 3 or 4 in regular leagues. Sometimes ya just club the other team to death. Both teams are over >500(beginners luck, or just too early in the season?}.Coaching the guys I have always heard about and coaching against same is great,
