My first game of strat in 6+ years and my first game. Shezer is pitching a 3 hitter, 70 pitches. I have him on slow hook and HAL decided to bring in a reliever that proceeds to stay in the game and blow my entire lead and take me to a loss. Seriously wtf man....how does that make sense in anyway. Glad to see the game is as reliable as ever.

Instead of slow hook, I would set Scherzer at a F6 or F5 (he was pulled at F9) so he doesn't get pulled until he reaches that point of tiredness. Also, check your relief setting to see if it is set to aggressive. You may want it for your other starting pitchers, so setting Scherzer at a lower F value will ensure he stays in as it will override the aggressive relief setting.

ouch, that was horrible coaching by hal. one of the 1st things I do is set my 2 or 3 best pitchers to something other than f9. with 2 outs and bases empty in the 9th last night, up by 1, hal left my lh specialist in to face Goldschmidt. goldy walked and my closer came in and allowed a game tieing double. later, in extras, my rh spec came in for a few batters. why hal, why?!!!

Yes, it doesn't make sense from a baseball purist perspective. However, keep in mind, the entire rally happened off of the hitter cards. Scherzer gets hammered as much as Gregerson.

And because StratOMatic is practically like really being at the ballgame, Scherzer could have told the manager he was feeling slightly fatigued during that first visit to the mound! You never know.

following on the theme my opponent ran his last reliever down to F0, so he put in hamels to relieve even though he had started 2 days prior. okay, seen it before, but I've also seen relievers go 5 innings on F0. not sure why he puts in the starter there. my real problem is hamels performance 2 games later, 137 pitches and never dipping below F9. shouldn't he have to pay a price for pitching on 1 days rest? seems kinda stupid to me.

Did you adjust your team settings? SOM has these crazy Maximize Closer and Aggressive Relief default settings. Occasionally I forget to change them and figure it out when my starters get pulled early like this.
