Jarrett Parker MVP x 3

PostSat Apr 30, 2016 10:45 am

The first 3 pre-card draft leagues finished regular season play last night and all were a smashing success for Jarrett Parker.

He was the MVP and HR leader in all 3 leagues (HR at 73, 79, and 86) and helped lead 2 of my teams to the playoffs.

HIs best performance for me was a triple-crown winner at .332 - .399 - .798 - 1.197

I believe he must be the top unleashed player of in Strat history!

Is there a league where Parker played that he did not win the HR title?

Update: All 3 of Parker's pre-card draft teams won their league titles, with him winning playoff MVP honors on both of my teams.

In his best one, in 13 playoff games, he had 26 hits and 13 HR!

That is an outlier though, and he was set on super mode that entire season.

My Parker (I still won a title) battered .238 with just 2 HR and 5 RBI in the playoffs. So remember both sides guys.

That said, he is by far the best hitter in the set, not even close. If you're in an Unleashed set, that's your #1 pick. But that won't guarantee a winning season. I also had a 90 loss team with him, he hit over 70 HR, but was just .268/.330 vs RHP, and was decent, but not godly.

Nonsensical...It's a shame to take a good game and ruin it with no names becoming Babe Ruth, As i've said before, Let us design a card using our own names and challenge Maris and Mantle for HR title or win 20 games. It's just as realistic as Parker hitting 86 and we get to compete against our heroes, Field of Dreams should be one of the parks to choose from,
Lets put our own card in the unleashed set! Now that would be fun and let us write our own game quotes. Talk trash to Clayton Kershaw when u take him deep,

These extremes in opinions is exactly why we have an unleashed and a regular set.

What I would like to see some day is a hybrid. Allow these type fringe cards but with the super advanced fatigue setting turned on where such cards would get injured much more frequently and/or some type usage limitations. Then these cards could be used off the bench for pinch hitting or spot starts but would not be Babe Ruth reincarnated.

Agreed. If Parker drives you crazy, don't be in a league where he might play.

Also agreed. Playing this year in my first offline league with 100% usage limits. The fluke performances are there and have the same impact they had in MLB.

Another angle that would be created by usage limits is having fringe cards like Parker on your team but then being strategic with when he is used. Do you only start him against selected tough pitchers or select teams you feel you really need to win against? Add per game lineups as a feature so I can start one of the super fringe players in just one game of select series and a whole new strategy avenue is opened up.

Good point as I dont play in the unleashed set so if the people enjoy then I guess that is great.
I am a huge Giants fan and still wouldnt play with that card.
My point was its not realistic which IMO is the whole point of Strat. The realism. I was serious about creating your own card. Then I would try the unleashed set. That would be some good marketing.

I get everyone has different tastes but the whole " I won't play unleashed because it isn't realistic" is so hypocritical IMHO. Unless you play in leagues with 32 teams and adhere to strict usage limits as per real life, this game isn't realistic in any way shape or form. The vast majority of leagues use 12 teams with mostly all star caliber lineups, some use only 4 starting pitchers and it's not uncommon for teams to have relief pitchers throw 150 innings or more so why draw an arbitrary line over a few cards. I just can't see the logic in that argument.
