Now Is The Time

PostWed Jun 01, 2016 9:31 pm

Now is the time to give The Daily Game a try... Join the league called, "Old & New". It is the Daily Game but features a much more fair 80 million dollar cap, with the old injury rules in effect and a 5/10/20 format.

We still need four more players to draft.... Come give this exciting format a try with a much more friendly 80 million dollar cap... Trust me, the 100 million dollar cap with the Daily Game does not work as well, 80 million is perfect.

However, the salaries have not been revised since opening day. Cards like Heyward, Tulo and Harvey are WAY OVERPRICED while a Fowler and Colome are way UNDERPRICED.

From the Info/Help section:

"Salaries will remain constant for your league. Even though cards and player values are changing, salaries will not change through the remainder of the season. It's possible later in the year that salaries will be adjusted periodically for leagues that have not drafted yet."

I've learned, being around here long enough that...

Their comment of "It's possible" usually means it won't happen.

The Mookie Betts transformation shows how arbitrary this set is.

Having salaries change would cause problems. Think about it. You drafted your 80 mil roster preseason. You picked up Story for loaf of bread. Then he goes nuts and you get a card full of HRs. The price goes up. Now your team is over the 80 mil cap. What now? Would you have that person be forced to drop players because he was right? Ditto on the Betts card.

But I would say that for cards that are free agents the salaries should adjust with the daily changes. Is that what happens?
I ask because I have not and likely will not buy in to the whole baseball daily concept. It ceases to be strat and becomes more like fantasy baseball.

I understand that may be part of their goal. But I am like that a lot like I was yogurt. When they told me I should give it a try because it was just like ice cream I said why not just eat ice cream to begin with. Or the old taste like chicken. Why not just eat chicken. If I want to play something that is like fantasy baseball I will play fantasy baseball.

I'm talking about the salaries for new leagues not existing leagues.

Changing salaries for new leagues would require them to have multiple versions of the card set. That would be too complicated for their developers to handle.
