Do relievers lose effectiveness if they pitch too many innings? So for example, if Delin Betances has thrown 180 innings heading into the last ten games will he enter a game fatigued or do the amount of innings pitched not mean anything over the season? Thanks.

Nope, they get fatigued if they pitch more than 2 games in a row, or over their endurance rating. There is no inning cap/limit for any pitchers.

Superstitiously, it appears to me that Starters tend to wear down near the end of the Season. I wish I could look at first half versus second half stats. It seems a late season pitcher trade always works out well for both parties.

This is simply the numbers being drawn towards the norm. Of course , if you wish to believe in "black box" stuff, you'll find many conspiracy theorists here who will agree with you

Intellectually, I agree. However in the absence of the actual breakdowns, I'll still wear my rally cap and rub chicken bones on the bats.
