Increasing Owner Participation

There are currently 39 open leagues that have 2 or less owners in them. Many of these open leagues have been around since before the Crusades.
Often when you purchase team credits, there are no leagues anywhere near full to join.
It can take up to 2-3 weeks after you join a league, to have the league fill, sometimes far longer.

It is frustrating to have to wait this long to have a league begin, especially when you have already paid for credits quite some time ago.

Solution:
Have STRAT combine same parameter leagues (that have 2 or less owners in them) once every Sunday---that would get leagues to fill up far faster, there would be no more "nomad" leagues hanging out there, and owners would be able participate in leagues in a reasonable time frame after putting out cash to purchase credits.

STRAT--can this be implemented? Do you want more owner participation?

Yeah it would be nice if they could combine two leagues if they both have the same setting.

In my opinion, this is a problem in the first place because there are so many sets to choose from. Maybe they can have an open season for specific sets. One month might have only ATG leagues available and then another month would have only one Mystery set available. The current season (2015) should be available all year round, though.

We also need more managers playing SOM 365 so they need to get the message out and advertise more. I always try to find ways to mention SOM 365 when I'm visiting other baseball related forums.

Lets also remember that it's football season. It seems that when Sept 1st comes along, online strato leagues dry up...except for Keeper Leagues and ongoing Theme Leagues.

With that said, I also find it odd that someone would create a league and sit out there with 1 or 2 teams for weeks on end. They do need to move another league or rework their team to be able to join a league that requires different settings.

At any rate, Wavy makes a good point in regards to a huge variety to choose from. Not only different sets, but different salaries, DH or no DH, etc. Not sure what we can all do about it, but individual guys would need to start consolidating their teams and clean up all those leagues that have no chance to fill.

A great idea until I decide I want to create an ATG team (I do not like the mystery game) but I cannot because it is mystery set season. I will always want to be able to create whatever team I want whenever I want for whatever reason I want. If someone else want to voluntarily limit themselves go for it.

Could work but just for fun I pulled the public league list in to access.
60 total leagues
Of these there were 42 which had unique feature sets. That leaves 18

There were four combinations that had 2 leagues. Factor in cap penalty which is not one of the display colums and these likely become unique. So take these 8 away leaving 10.

Would concentrating those few leagues make that much difference? I will leave that for others to decide.

Biggest problem I see with forced consolidation is I may have created a league and do not want it consolidated. If that is the case and I go out to check on my league and it is gone I am probably a bit peeved.

We all knew this fragmentation would happen when we started asking for various league options. I doubt they could eliminate any of the options now without alienating some portion of their customer base.

Valen hits most of the points head on, but forgot one.

I may not want to play with an individual that is in a particular league. Don't push me to play with someone I don't want to.

Geekor,
agree, but its hard when ARKINALS are in almost every league..... :-)
3 times out of 4 I somehow end up in his division....
wondering how that happens....

but as we know, the ARKS love to play in RH parks, with RH power hitters weighted Righty.....
so if he is in the pool, its a good bet that Pedro G will be on his roster....
