First look at the ratings: top 10 players per position

Top 10 hitters per position

I decided to create a new post..

WARP= wins above replacement player (adjusted for neutral stadiium, 80M league)
Pos is the position the player will have its best value (not necessarily the top position of his card)
My est salary: Salaries as my ratings would have it...but my ratings differ somewhat from TSN...by the way this was done without knowing who is injury-prone to only 3 games or 15 games, so these values are likely to change. Also, I haven't analyzed the pitching, and this could affect the value of some hitters (eg. left-handed hitters could benefit from a little bump).

A lot of parameters I used are based on last year data, so the final numbers can change significantly (I just bumped Lindor and Pedroia salaries...numbers above corrected). Obviously, these are my ratings, not SOM ratings. SOM might decide to lower the salaries of second basemen quite a lot given this year's depth at this position and bump ss salaries so that the 10th best player at each position are roughly equivalent...but the relatively value of every player within each position shouldn't change.

Wow CF is thin this year.

Trea Turner was horrible defensively in CF last year. He got the 3, instead of the 4 because of his hitting, which means someone else on Washington probably got a much higher range rating than they deserved.

Healy is part of the best of the rest...all players estimated at 3M and plus, not included above:

Given the plethora of second basemen, it will be fun to see if SOM adjusts their pricetag downward...

That's the salary of dh players if they play the field. Alvarez with his 5e65 has a pretty unusable card in the field.

Renfroe, 11.09 $ rf-3(-2)e25
Ortiz,D* 7.28 $ 1b-5e24
Joyce,M* 5.14 $ lf-4e2
Cruz,N 4.47 $ rf-5(-2)e4
Martinez 4.22 $ rf-4(0)e8
Diaz,A 4.20 $ ss-3e25
Naquin,T 4.00 $ rf-4e4
Kang,J 3.80 $ 3b-4e34
Lamb,J* 3.30 $ 3b-4e24
Miller,B 3.36 $ 1b-4e19
Saunders 3.36 $ lf-4(0)e3
Tomas,Y 2.57 $ lf-4(+1)e9
Grossman 3.20 $ lf-4(+1)e18
Cabrera, 3.15 $ lf-4(-3)e3
Maybin,C 3.13 $ cf-3(+2)e7
Alvarez, 0.91 $ 3b-5e65
Schwarbe 2.24 $ lf-5(+1)e5
Martinez 2.96 $ 1b-5e13
Weeks Jr 1.39 $ lf-5(+1)e20
Kemp,M 2.88 $ lf-4(+1)e3
Bautista 2.84 $ 1b-4e18

Roughly the same...Salary would be 7.37M at 3B. Bryant's defense is 3e3(-1) in left field and 3e20 at 3b, so in both case almost league average, a bit below. But these values could very well change....I used last year's parameters to perform the positional adjustments (that is, when making different positions comparable). These parameters are better set with the league average at each position, which can change from year to year...

In response to the troll, this is why MARC is so successful. It's not SOM cheating for him and others.
