First lookat 2016 the pitchers

PostSun Jan 15, 2017 3:57 pm

Incredible Kershaw. He doesn't have a star, but I still have him over 10M. I don't expect SOM to rate him as high, so I'll probably be a nice buy when season starts.

Actually, lefties are dominating the set this year. Arrieta ends up pretty high too. In case you're looking for Greinke, he didn't make the mark, which I set at 3M (he is valued 2.84).

I haven't check-proof my ratings, so mistakes could have occurred. Price was set with the 2015 parameters, so they are likely to change if wet set in the 2016 parameters, but the relative order shouldn't move us, except for extreme (9R/9L) pitchers:

I also have starters valued very high in Merrit (11,27M), Cotton (8.89M), and Asher (5.99), but they are likely to be additional or available only in the unleashed set.

Avilan is in the 6M+, but with only 20 innings in the season, he's not likely to have a card.

Hector Rondon seems to be missing. I see a Rondon B. But no closer rating.

He is under 3M. 8 BP and over 20 chances vs lhp...better card vs rhp but still alot of power (4 or 5 BP)

Thanks,
The home runs are high but hopefully the whip will save him. I guess my concern is he's on one of my 24 team keeper teams as my closer.

I appreciate you sharing your hard work.. Here are some random thoughts or questions.

I am a little surprised that Andrew Miller is a R1 as opposed to R2. While I know the playoffs do not count, I was thinking Miller still worked two innings at least enough during the regular season to get the R2. The man can obviously do two innings no problem...

I am also a little surprised Dan Otero is getting the R2 but I won't complain because I am an Indians fan and this was my dream season.

I am not looking at the numbers but I thought Jake Arrieta and Carlos Carrasco would be priced a little higher. I am not in any keeper leagues and I don't remember those guys exact stats.

Do the asterisks after some of the names mean LHP? If so you might have missed some guys.

Again, thanks for sharing your work!

It seems to me that the R1C6 reliever rating produces 100-200 innings already in the online game. If anything their use needs to be adjusted downward.

That's fine with me, I am making a different point. If any lights out closer or set up guy should be a R2 it should be Andrew Miller.

Asterisks do mean LHP, but like you said, many were cut off because I cut the SOM file to 8 characters to have some readibility on these forums. But if I'll set the information more accurately later this week.

None of the closers are R2. I'm not sure how the closer rating interacts with the fatigue rating, but clearly SOM has made a decision about limiting the fatigue rating of closers. If anything I'd complain about the c4 for Miller.

Marcpelletier helped me understand something fundamental about the valuation of pitchers. Those with low OB will produce more outs over fewer plate appearances, which means they take longer to fatigue. Not all R1's are at the same fatigue level despite what the designator says. The same is true of C ratings. If the Miller card has a super low OB it will be a killer card that pitches a ton of innings (as long as you avoid a string of 1 to 3 rolls).
