catcher injuries

PostTue Aug 22, 2017 1:06 pm

2nd season I have started a 6 inj catcher everyday along with Gary Sanchez hoping to minimize Sanchez injuries. Hoping that Avilla gets hurt before Sanchez does. Bottom line it doesn't work, I believe Hal takes special relish in plunking Sanchez, he has missed more games for me than he normally misses.

I think it is a decent strategy.

Not sure how your team is configured, but if you are using your 2nd 6 injury catcher as a DH in your starting lineups, it should help on average with Sanchez injuries (hope there is no 3rd catcher on the team), however if Sanchez is hitting 3 or 4 and the other catcher is 8 or 9--that would make a difference too--I would consider putting Soto or Herrmann 3rd and Sanchez 4th to make sure the 6 injury catcher is getting more opportunities to get hurt.

good point. I have been batting Avilla 9th, Sanchez is on his 2nd 10 gamer. When he gets back maybe I will lead Avilla off

If you play your high injury guy and his card is bad then you handcuff yourself. I have tried it a couple of times and waiting for a guy that has a bad card to get a 15 game injury so your good catcher can not get injured just didn't work for me. All catchers can go down for 15 games as they never hit that 600 plus PA. Grab 2 good catchers that can bat or throw out baserunners because they both will go down in this game, unlike Pitchers unless you use the new rule.

Hope this helps

thanks I agree with you I have now tried it twice and as I have pointed out my No. 1 catcher doesn't get hurt less than other teams that don't employ this strategy.
