Wanna Start 24-team 2017 league...Fairest Parameters?

PostThu Mar 01, 2018 11:44 pm

I want to get a 24-team 2017 league started, but want to make it as appealing as possible for people.

Feel like the key questions are:

What's the fairest salary cap? $80? $60? Some number in between?

Should it be advanced injuries or not?

Should it be unleashed, to make the player pool as deep as possible?

Figuring it's gotta be DH and Waivers.

Other thoughts to maximize appeal and quickly fill?

I’m interested.
Would prefer $80mil cap
Advanced injuries are good/realistic
Unleashed
DH and Waivers, yes.

Thank you for your response, EnricoP!

If we go w/ %80m, "Unleashed" seems more fair, as it deepens the pool of talent. DH, Waivers, both seem like no-brainers as well.

Only question is on the injuries front. It certainly makes the "Unleashed" guys a more precarious choice. Imma gonna wait & see who else chimes in here w/ input, but I appreciate your opinion which largely dovetails with my own, EP.

I find with 24 team leagues that 70 million is a good salary point. a bad draft at 80 million can paralyze from the start because there is not enough talent to go around. prefer unleashed as well.

I agree with toronto...$70 is better for 24 team leagues. Unlike most, i like the super advanced injury. The pitcher injuries are vicious, but it adds to the challenge....

I've gotten a PM also that says $70m is a better way to go for teams that get hamstrung in a 24 team auto draft. That said, I played in a 24 team $80m league last year and even bad drafts found big studs on the waiver wire.

Keeping an open mind. Further thoughts, hive mind?

$70m is the HIGHEST you can get away with at 24 teams

Interested...but not with the Super-Advanced Injuries.

After Game 141, you have no possible recourse to fill a team, in the event of a rash of injuries.

This makes for a poor game and a poorer simulation.

All the Best,

Gene!

The auto draft can certainly screw a team with fragile players. While I prefer the advanced injuries, regular injuries is probably the better way to go. Makes the Unleashed guys more appealing, too.

Currently leaning towards:

24 Team League
$70mm Cap
Unleashed
DH
Waivers
Regular Injuries

Further thoughts and observations are welcome.
