I wondering if Morton will be given the * - or available to pitch ever fourth game - designation. He finished with 33 starts and 194.2 innings pitched.
Well?

I think I may have answered my own question. Not completely sure though.
Rick Porcello pitched 191.1 innings in 2018. He also had 33 starts (like Morton did this year). And Porcello was designated an every fourth day SP. So it seems logical that Morton, who pitched 3.1 more innings than Porcello would easily qualify for the every fourth day SP. Am I wrong?

He'll probably get the * but Strat should really think about getting rid of that designation. No starters are pitching every 4 days anymore so I don't know why it's still used in recent seasons.

It really has nothing to do with pitching every 4th day. Strat teams play every day with no off days or rain outs unlike real baseball teams so a *SP in SOM is not really pitching every 4th day. He will end up getting more IP than say a SP who only pitched 100 innings. Since pitchers seem to be injured for long stretches far less often than hitters maybe this is SOM's way of insuring that those SP will get more games pitched than other SP. For instance a hitter who has 680 or more AB+BB will be able to play every SOM game, a *SP will not miss a start (at least for ones with 200+ IP). There should also be a similar rule for RP based on actual games pitched or something but for right now the only protection of preventing an injury for more than 3 games is 200 actual innings pitched (basically being a *SP).
I know there are holes in this theory but generally I believe the reasoning is true. Hitters can be an injury 1 thru an injury 6. All pitchers in online SOM are an injury 1 no matter if they pitched all year or were injured much of the year but had enough IP to get a card. Meaning the only way any pitcher can be injured is a 6-12 roll vs the DH or a 1 injury on one of the standard pitcher batting cards.

Isn't the online game based on the board game? I can see them potentially (eventually) changing to match the current mlb environment.

Yes he should have a * but will still be a 15 game risk. 200 innings to be a 3 game injury only
I believe 32 starts to get the * but maybe it's 31 don't remember
