Should the RP Specialist rule be revised or amended?

PostMon Mar 14, 2022 8:22 pm

The requirement that RP finish an inning make the current rule obsolete for 2020 set and later.
Perhaps this should be revised to become effective with 2-outs?

LH Specialist: Inning: 7+; Leading or trailing by 1-3 runs or tied; LH batters
RH Specialist: Inning: 7+; Leading or trailing by 1-3 runs or tied; RH batters

I think MLB should get rid of this stupid rule. It failed to speed up the game in any significant way, which is what Boyfred intended it to do.

I stopped using that setting completely, whereas I used to use it quite a bit. I dont want my specialist to HAVE to face three batters and It annoyed me to have him brought in a tight game when my stud set up or closer guy was already in the game.

STRAT-O-MATIC really dropped the ball when they let a couple of guys ruin the bullpen system and logic in a vain and meaningless attempt to snuff out so called, " super relievers ".

Whoever came up with rule that a RP can only serve in two roles was severely challenged when it comes to logic. In what world can a MLB reliever only pitch in two scenarios??? Seriously? Can we use just a dash of common sense?

The really sad part is that someone thought this was a good idea???

I have a hunch about why the changes were made.

Not directed at any specific people (I wouldn't know who they are anyway), but the changes were clearly made to appease long time players in the ATG set.
MY personal hunch (again, not directed at anyone specifically) is a few people dominated during the early "TSN" years suddenly were losing to newbies who stared playing 10 or so years ago.
