player prefs vs team strategy

Does the managers team strategy take precedence over individual player preferences?
example: You have one A rated hit & run player on your roster, the rest of the team pretty much sucks at this. If you set your team hit & run strategy to conservative, will that prevent your excellent H&R guy from executing the play in appropriate situations. Conversely, if your strategy is aggressive does that encourage all your lesser H&R players to give it a try?
It keeps me up at night.
