What are the rules on player use for the SOM365 2023 season?
For example, CF Sam Hilliard ATL and has only 40 games and 72 AB in real life. Is there a limit on number of games and AB he can have? Or could he be used as the starting CF all season with 500+ AB?
Same for SP MIchael Wacha SDP who was in 24 games and 134 IP... can he pitch 30+ games and over 200 IP? Or, will his production results begin to decrease after 134 IP? Does he automatically become injured after 134 IP?

i think its unlimited
but that brings up a contradiction.....
players are allowed to perform WAY past their real life stats, but penalized heavily for missing 1O to 2O % of a seasons games
the injury rating has NO SENSE whatsoever
guys with only 5O to 1OO AB get a 1 rating, while some others who've more than 5OO plate appearances get a wicked 3
because this game is largely for hard core SOM fans, there should be a focus on what those GMs cumulatively want, and a wish list or request list or fix the f-cking thing list should be used soliciting GM suggestions,....and then as much as possible implement those....
these sentiments might be a broken record (LP) replay of long standing previous comments, and falling on deaf ears
but, if bench players can play a 6OO plus AB season, other players shouldn't get penalized as much for injury....take that 3 mil or so Ripken card....hits great for that price, but has like a 3 or 4 rating....just give him a better injury rating and make him more expensive....
there should be as less luck as possible in the game, (which there seems to be an over preponderance of now), and reducing variables like 15 game injuries would be help to roster construction and management

No, there are no limitations, and no decrease in effectiveness. Hilliard can start every game, and Wacha can start every fifth game. (However, note that Hilliard has a
very high injury rating, so he'll likely miss some games. And Wacha has a low endurance rating, so he might not pitch deep into games.)

Thank you for the helpful responses and for welcoming me back. Think I last played a team in 2015. Always had fun doing so, but was not a very successful manager. Only 1 playoff appearance in 14 seasons, with a record mostly below .500
This is a wonderful game, and I'm very excited to be playing it again. It's much fun to get lost in all the player card reviewing and strategizing, despite the many agonizing L's and non-winning teams I had.

Injury question... when a player is injured, what happens if you do not have a another player on the team eligible to play at the injured players position?
For example, if 2B Nicky Lopez sustained a +3 game injury, but he is the only player on my team eligible to play 2B, would another player be moved to play 2B with a horrible rating of something like 5e30 for the next 3 games? Or will the game engine not allow Lopez to be injured for +3 games, since there is no eligible backup?

If you don't have another eligible 2B, another player will replace Lopez and yes, he'll have a terrible rating.
If an OF has to play another OF position he's not rated for, I think the penalty is not as harsh. Like maybe his range goes up by 1, or sometimes not at all? I'm not totally clear on that rule.
If you're down to only one catcher, the rule is different. The game engine won't let your last catcher get hurt.

Is this also what happens when a SP is injured?
For example, if my SP Garrit Cole was injured for 15 games and I only have 4 other SP... how would HAL handle that
Does a bullpen arm fill in as a SP? And if so, how would their endurance ratings as a R2 be applied as a starter? Like after 6 outs would he then be susceptible to becoming tired with a reduced F rating? Or is the R2 gifted a rating of S2 or more?

Yes, a reliever will start the game... usually it's the RP with the highest endurance rating. I don't know the fatigue rules, but I wouldn't expect him to pitch more than 2 innings.
