ATG6 - Advice needed

PostSun Nov 18, 2012 11:01 pm

I'm in a brand new round robin tournament involving teams from American league in the ATG6 card set.
We got to play with players only from an original team each season.
For my first season, I have the Red Sox (from every era).

The link: http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/812570

I picked Fenway park '67 :
Singles Homeruns
L R L R
1-20 1-18 1-17 1-20

The other teams have a lot of lefty starting pitchers (SP*) : 21 lefties / 23 righties overall

As we have a 100 million dollars salary cap, I was wondering what I should do about some players :

- Ted Williams: does his 11,83 worth it or should I save a million and take his 10,70 card (a bit more balanced).
- Carlton Fisk: same thing with his 2 cards: 5,30 or 7,43 , a 2 millions $ economy

These economies, of course, could allow me to take the best Nomar Garciapara card and improve elsewhere.

Some tough dilemmas !

Thanks guys !

Diamonddope used to compile cumulative statistics for every ATG player. That part of the site is defunct, but here are some numbers for how Williams and Fisk have performed in 100 mil leagues. (Keep in mind that the stats are pretty old, but still representative.)

Williams 11.83 card: .355 .476 .597
Williams 10.70 card: .321 .463 .634

Fisk 7.43 card: .283 .373 .472
Fisk 5.30 card: .234 .302 .381

I'm in the league too (so should probably keep those numbers to myself!) But anyway ... good luck. It's going to be interesting.

The cheaper Williams gets an advantage vs those LHP so it is probably a good place to save a buck in light of that pitching ratio. The 2 Fisks are very similar vs LHP, but the more expensive is a lot better vs RHP.

Do you get to pick from the Beaneaters? if so, you might consider going very cheap on catcher with the $1.55 Phil Masi. He won't hit nor catch horribly and he is + clutch. But the big lure is his pricetag if you can use the cash elsewhere.

Insteresting stats Tom ! Thanks !

Thanks hackra too ! I can only pick in the Red Sox history, so I won't be allowed to go on the Brave's side.
