Card reading question

Please forgive the novice question but I have never played the strat board game, only this online edition. Therefore I never really looked at the actual rolls of the dice, until now.

In the link below, bottom of the 9th where Dick Egan is pinch hitting against Mike Marshall, I assume the 6-6 is the roll of the dice. Pitchers's card, column 6 row 6. Is that correct? Egan is a right-handed batter. Marshall's card on the 6-6 is Hr 1-2; Fly (RF)B 3-20. Why did Egan get credited with a single to LF? This didn't effect the outcome of the game but i'm curious if this is a game error or if i'm missing something. This was the first game that I actually looked at the rolls, so if it is an error odds are there are many more, some of which are affecting the outcome of games i'm sure. Will Marshall always give up a single on the 6-6? Or am I reading the card wrong?

From "how to read a hitter's card":
Power rating -- An "N" means he has consistent homer power and is able to homer when a homer comes up on pitcher cards. A "W" rating indicates the player does not have consistent homer power. Note that some players have power against lefties, but not righties, or vice versa.

So that would mean the extra roll came up as a 1 or a 2 and it converted the HR into a single to LF?

The "how to read a card" link was always on every hitter and pitcher card back in the TSN - ATG1 days. A shame it's no longer there. I've gone looking for it since it switched over. * Poof * gone. I think it might really be a good idea if your plan is to attract and keep new players.

Yes, I know it's buried in the game rules now, just handier to see it on the card.

Assuming the 72 card power N or W would not matter. The hitter power rating only comes in to play on a ballpark home run unless I read the rules wrong.

It is indeed the W rating that Egan has. EVERY HR on the Pitcher's card is dependent on the hitter's power ranking. Someone with a W cannot hit a HR off the pitcher's card. If you had a league with weak pitching, you would have guys with few or no career homeruns hitting many of the course of the season otherwise.

I did think you would get a double, however. I suppose it doesn't matter as you say. But yeah Marshall has several cards, two of which had a Single** listed for the same roll. But assuming you didn't mis-read the card somehow, yes, he got a 1 or 2 on the split roll and consequently got a base hit instead of a HR.

Thanks for all the replies. Btw i did read the help section but it was very vague. It seems some of the vets around here weren't even sure of the answer, pretty interesting. Btw it is Marshalls 72' card.
