Please not ANOTHER mystery league. There are too many leagues already, that's why some take forever to fill.

I would love to see the game either slimmed down, 2000 some players, i mean, come on, WAY WAY too many. OR... a minimum of 24 teams in every league.

I know, there are the subsets...
and the DH, no DH...
and now random...
and the different cap choices...

Just too many options, with too many players, and too few of us willing to spend the money.

Maybe a once a month SOM sponsored theme league, with an extra prize?

Anything, to make a league fill faster, anyone look recently at all the leagues with 1 team in it?

Eh, just me finger tips rambling on bout nothing I guess.

The only thing that is going to make leagues fill faster is better customer service so customers who play a lot are no longer chased off and new players will stay.

I do not see how reducing the player pool would increase participation. All that could do is irritate some more people when they lost several of their favorite players.

As to 24 teams being mandatory and eliminating 12 team leagues that would be counter productive to getting leagues to fill. One of the reasons I do not play 24 team leagues is I do not want to wait for 23 other people to get an urge to play.

my point was that I am a baseball tradionalist, I love atg, to an extent that is... it should be renamed to...

Every Team is an All-Start Team

For those that love hitting this is def there game.

But for those that love pitching, like me, we are sorely dissapointed in the product as a whole.

Sure, I can put every team in petco, or forbes... but still

the pitching side of this game is always getting crushed....

Sure, Bonds can hit 100 HRs in a hitter park

But where are the 40 game winning pitchers? Well, for one, they cant make enough starts. why isnt there a double **ed pitcher that can start every third game, instead of every 4th? with some of the guys we are playing with, they did just that.

Just more rambling I guess.

Yes it is rare to see pitchers pitching as well as they should. In the league I am in now most of the pitchers have an era of over 4. Does not make sense. I do enjoy the game but it could get pricey

yes, some of the oldtimers from pre-1900 did pitch a lot of innings and a lot of games. But there were extenuating circumstances. Many of those innings were low or no stress innings. I have read there was even a time when hitters could request the pitch in a certain place. And that at one time it took 9 balls to walk a batter. Why bother bringing in a reliever or care if a pitcher were fresh under those circumstances? To allow those pitchers to throw double the innings of say a Nolan Ryan who threw max effort every pitch would be comical.

And if you do not like the allstar nature of ATG then play the lower caps where people cannot afford a lineup full of sluggers. And if they took away 2000 cards many of those would probably be pitchers.

The game is always going to slant toward hitters because the 50/50 model does not allow for adequate representation and reproduction of record elite pitching. It does easily reproduce elite hitters. It will drive you nuts and ruin your enjoyment of the game if you let it. But if you can view the performance of the great pitchers being relatively better than the rest and accept a certain inflation of era then this is still a fun game. There are problems but solutions need to be thought out. The solution of removing 2000 cards or locking all leagues in at 24 or more teams is not the proper solution.

Remember the game started out with nothing but 12 team leagues. The 24 team option was added because some, not all desired it. Many like the 24 team leagues. Many prefer the 12. To ignore either group would be poor customer service and worse would not accomplish what you desire.

I agree with Michael on the pitching aspects of SOM. I have devised complete rosters around stellar pitching in pitcher's parks and the home run hitting teams that come visit those parks always rake ... ridiculously. Which is interesting because we know that great pitching dominates good hitting nearly all the time. Yet and still ... I am always angry when I get, say, George Sisler on my team, and he ends up hitting .315, or when Maury Wills only steals 30 bases, or Hank Aaron only hits 30 home runs in Stars Park or on and on and on ...

But ... that's what happens with "simulation" right?

Oh, and yes, it's really hard to get leagues to fill when there are so many options. I favor the $100mil leagues, while others favor higher or lower amounts. I favor the frenzy but they don't come along as often. I figure, with so many players and so many options ... all leagues should be a frenzy.

Anyway, I ramble ... when only thing I came to ask is, Where is Gary Sheffield? We have all these amazing guys from the "steroid era" (so called) but not Gary Sheffield? Please add.
