Clemente

PostSun Mar 10, 2013 5:30 pm

Growing up I was always a big fan of Roberto Clemente, Im happy to see we have 4 seasons of his to pick from in ATG but not his MVP season, It would be a great addition as it was his best season for HR and he would be bulletprove as far as injuries are concerned. One of the downsides to our game is that players like Clemente dont fair as well in the game as they did in real life.

Anyone who was fortunate enough to see Roberto play in person will remember with great fondness his remarkable flair for the game. He was not only enormously talented, his batting and running styles were dramatic - the twisting neck and the coiled front leg in the batters box, the flailing arms and flying cap on the bases. Also, in my opinion, there was Roberto's throwing arm - and then there was everyone else; even having witnessed many of his throws I still find them hard to believe.

Clemente card is plenty good and very useable. There was a time in ATG when it was hard to get him, but there are so many additions to a very deep right field that the arm is no longer special. I think in particular Ichiro has hindered his use. But when you figure the competition includes multiple Ruth, Aaron, Ichiro, Cobb, Maris, Mel Ott, the new Joe Jackson cards, even Ted WIlliams if you want to play him there, Moises Alou, Reggie Jackson
