Memorial Stadium was home to the Baltimore Orioles from 1954-1991.
Field Dimensions
Left Field - 309 ft
Left-Center - 446 ft (1954), 378 ft (1990)
Center Field - 445 ft (1954), 405 ft (1980)
Right-Center - 446 ft (1954), 378 ft (1990)
Right Field - 309 ft
Construction of Outfield Bleachers in 1953, as Baltimore worked to lure the St. Louis Browns to Maryland. Note the pentagonal shape to Memorial Stadium in its early days.
From the first season of Major League Baseball in Baltimore. August 21, 1954. Bob Lemon pitches to Chico Garcia. You can see the scoreboard in RF, which was used until 1970, when a new digital scoreboard was installed.
Memorial Stadium in the 1950s
Memorial Stadium early days, but with the expansive CF mitigated somewhat by the wire fence which can be seen in center
The facade in front of Memorial Stadium read:
"ERECTED BY THE
CITY OF BALTIMORE
1954
DEDICATED BY
THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL
AND THE PEOPLE OF BALTIMORE CITY
IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND
As a Memorial to All
Who so Valiantly Fought
and Served in the World
Wars with Eternal
Gratitude to Those Who
Made the Supreme
Sacrifice to Preserve
Equality and Freedom
Throughout the World
TIME WILL NOT DIM THE GLORY OF THEIR DEEDS"
Later aerial of the Memorial Stadium I remember, with the interior outfield fences.
