Jet's ratings just provide more comprehensive information, for example including fielding (and everything else) in the ratings. Diamond Dope is just about hitting. The whole "interpretation" hypothesis sounds logical but bears little actual relation to Jet's ratings. Both sides provide info, Joe's are just more comprehensive.
Now the other issue. Nev has a huge iobsession with "ownership" of players. This goes back at least to ATG III. I prefer figuring out my own strategies but if I notice something works well for something else, I may well try it myself.
I don't have a problem with my ideas being copied, nor even being given credit for them. People see an idea that works, they use it. I call that progress.
