Didn't they also reduce the prize structure when they went from 12 teams to the 24 team leagues? I don't see many of these filling these days.

Guess that's their business model, raise the price and sell more of it - only thing is that's not how business/consumers work.

I'm all in favor of giving out credits, but giving the same award to the first and second place team doesn't seem right. For that reason alone I like the half credit idea better.

It obviously is about GREED....I have been in business for over 40 years, and any time I can double my cost on a product I will sell that product all day long. If 6 people pay SOM $20 each for a credit to play, in a 6 team league SOM gets $120 in revenue. If they give 2 credits to the first place team and 1 to 2nd place, then they make $60 on the league with less work (no playoffs)!! GREED I say!!!
To many teams, not enough time! Must be an addiction!!

For a win/win solution, I say they give the second place team a free down load of one issue of Strat Times.

If there are no playoffs, then I would argue winner takes all applies. Just think if they want to push this new concept, then awarding the "standard" two credits to the league champion would make sense as a win-win scenario. Unfortunately, such a concept seems entirely alien to Mr. Richman.

I think the 24 team prize structure should apply to 12 team leagues. Anyone who wins a division deserves a credit. Let the wild cards have to win the championship to earn credits. Yes, my wildcards seem to advance further in the playoffs and I've benefited from the current rule, but I understand how unfair it is.

I think the six team leagues are a good option for the sets we rarely use. However, I see two problems with the new option. First, there should be a championship series for the top two teams. Otherwise you could have only ONE team in contention for anything, with 20 or MORE games to play. If you add a championship series at LEAST two teams would be in contention and more than likely three or even four would be in contention until the last week.

Secondly, is the problem most guys here are addressing, the issue of less credits awarded per paid manager. I will have second thoughts about playing six team leagues for the first and second reasons. Why can't SOM offer half credits?...... Having said all this, I am glad SOM is trying new things and adding new options. ..... I love the new live drafts!..

One last thing that some of you may not know. SOM is not some huge corporation bilking their customers. They are a small "family" run business that we are lucky to have around! There have been several times SOM could have gone out of business. It is a symbiotic relationship that SOM and their customers enjoy. They truly need us, and I truly am glad to have them around. I hope SOM never goes out of business.

How about an 8-team league with 1 credit to the regular season winner and one to the playoff winner - 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 then winners.
