You could be right, but to me, the tinkering with your team is the most fun part of the online experience

I agree, it's like putting together a puzzle. Have never done a live draft. Don't want to spend a couple hours on it when you can and may need to revamp your whole team anyway. If you get to choose your entire team, I think the roster should be locked until the season starts.

That's what sets the live draft apart form auto draft. You are allowed to change your team on the fly. If you wanted to start a lefty team, but you draft towards the bottom and the top lefties are gone. You can change your team then. Unlike auto draft you are stuck with what you have and hope you can get some lefties as free agents.

OK Petro, you started this so I'm going to pick your brain.

You said that your favorite position to draft is either 1,2,3, or 12. That seems very specific. Is it because you have Bonds, Ruth, and Gibson and then a drop off? Age if that is the case why isn't Hornsby part of that group?

I've done 2 live drafts and picked 1st and 7th. And I did like the first pick the best for the reason that it was much easier to draft platoons.

What are your reasons for preferring those draft positions?

I'm going to guess that if he can't get one of the top 3, the 12 spot allows you to see what everyone else is doing and then react with 2 picks

Yup, a drop off after Ruth, Bonds, Gibson. Some people like Hornsby is the top three. I'm not one of them. So top three is the optimum. I like 12 also because you can put some pressure on #11 with two quick picks in a row and also picking twice in a row allows you to grab stuff to thin out key positions. Sometimes if you just take one guy, and there is only one more good guy left at the position followed by a big drop off, then two picks in a row can be very useful. I did that once with Schmidt and Mathews, the latter ended up being my dh and backup guy at 3b for the injury prone Schmidt.
