Rise of the Mediocre Franchises League

PostTue Apr 08, 2014 9:54 am

Concept: Combine two Franchises to form your best team.

6 Team League
$160 million
DH
5/10/20

League Rules

a. Once we have six (6) managers signed up, we will run a randomizer to choose the order of the draft.
b. "Franchise Tossing" Round - The manager with the 6th pick will select a Franchise to eliminate from selection (e.g., "I got the last stinking pick, heck if anybody is taking the Yankees."). Thus the Yankees cannot be selected, and then the 5th pick gets to eliminate another franchise and so on.
c. Two Franchises are selected from the remaining Franchises in a Snake Draft.
d. 1st Franchise Selection Round - the manager with the 1st pick selects his first Franchise, and we continue 1 through 6.
e. 2nd Franchise Selection Round - the manager with the 6th pick gets to select his second Franchise, and back to Manager 1.
f. In case of a player having multiple team cards, the card with the highest value is owned by that Franchise. For example, Hoyt Wilhelm is owned by Baltimore and could not be selected/used by another Franchise.
g. If the highest card value Franchise for a player is not selected or tossed, he is available to the next highest value Franchise. For example, if the Red Sox are eliminated in the Franchise Tossing Round, but the Indians are not, then Tris Speaker can be used by the manager who takes the Indians.
h. A player must have a card for one of your Franchises in order to play on your team.
i. Managers must choose a ballpark from one of their Franchises.

If interested, please sign-up below. Once we have six managers, we'll move to the Individual League Forum for selections. A list of the Franchises will be posted in a separate post.

So there are going to be 12 franchises tossed out? Every owner tosses a franchise out before the whole draft starts? Am I reading the rules right.

Is that mathematically feasible?
Thinking out loud here.

There's only 30 to start with if you're counting all the current ones now.

If you eliminate 12, that leaves you 18.

How are you going to divide 18 into two selection rounds of 12 each?

Or are you separating the Giants, Dodgers, A's, Braves, etc. into however how many cities they've played in as separate franchises? That might get you to the magic number of 24. But don't forget the current franchises - AZ, Colorado, Miami - that have just a handful of players available.

Kunkel - yes you are reading that right, except now we will be tossing out six - with a six manager league.

You are correct, my bad

I guess this will be a 6 team league if there is interest. Thus, there will be 6 teams tossed. I'm going back to redo the first message.
